2023-03-31: Daily Update

I am not good with jetlag. When I go on a work trip, I take melatonin and try to adapt quicky to the new schedule. I don’t do anything special when I am on vacation, today I woke up really late and now it is almost midnight and I am not tired.

It’s been really warm, abnormally warm for this time is the year. The north of Spain is not better. There are fires in Asturias, where it is usually hard to see the sun behind the clouds and the rain. Still some people deny climate change.

Today was the feast of “La virgen de los dolores” en Águilas. The beginning of the Holly Week festivities.

My mother in law cooked ‘tortilla de patatas’ for dinner. One of the kids said he likes it without onions. Sacrilege! If you don’t know that, tortilla with onions or without onions is something people will argue about in Spain. At home, I don’t even give room for discussion, it is with onions or there is no tortilla.

Jetlag is a bitch. I totally understand. The fires in Asturias look horrific just like last summer in Portugal, Greece and now Spain. So sad, so scary and so costly – the towns, homes, lives and the animals. I pray for rain.

Both my mom and I were rolling with laughter about your comment…”Sacrilege! If you don’t know that, tortilla with onions or without onions is something people will argue about in Spain. At home, I don’t even give room for discussion, it is with onions or there is no tortilla.” I will tell you the debate happens in Reno, NV. Onions win!

Anyway, my dear friend, stay safe, and go for a walk/run before bed it might help with the jetlag… ~r
